To prove the 2020 Subaru Outback truly is the Greatest Outback of All Time (G.O.O.A.T.), we pitted it against nature's most rugged, capable animal - a mountain goat. The campaign ran for two years, and won Best in Show at the CMAs. While I'm very proud of this campaign, the shoot was plagued by bad weather, and it took weeks to find a trained mountain goat. Then, right after landing in Vancouver for the shoot, we received word that our one-and-only star goat, Gus, had been struck by lightning and killed the night before. That's correct. Using two dangerous untrained mountain goats at the Vancouver Zoo, we managed to get enough footage to make it work. But this campaign is dedicated to Gus - and everyone who worked their butts off bringing this campaign to life.
